Hybrid Ferrari FFX Millechili

millechili Hybrid Ferrari FFX Millechili

Ferrari has a new concept car called the FFX Millechili that uses new environmentally-friendly technology.  The main goal of the new technology is to increase efficiency by using the least gas consumption to enhance speed. This is something that sports cars have been doing for years but now with Hybrid technology, it will be a new technology that will help make sports cars better, faster, and more efficient while also being good for the environment! The Ferrari FFX Millechili will use electric drive train to boost its power as well as to increase efficiency. It will be made using the standard carbon fiber as well as plastic and cardboard which along with carbon fiber makes the car lightweight which, will also help efficiency. It will also have a new active aerodynamic underbody, with jets that channel airflow underneath the car which would increase speed and efficiency. Hybrid cars is definitely where the future of car technology is going to be. Almost every single car manufacturer, if not all, are developing their own Hybrid vehicles. You can see some more green concept cars by other manufacturers here.

2007 was hot!

thermometer 2007 was hot!

2007 is on track to be the second warmest year since records have been tracked in the 1860s behind 1998. There were reports that predicted 2007 to be the warmest year on record, but it looks like it will have to come in 2nd.  The trend is headed towards more droughts, floods, heatwaves, and powerful storms but many climate experts say that individual extreme events may not be caused by global warming and is just naturally chaotic. An increase in global temperatures however, can affect changes such as increasing the sea level and changes in the amount and pattern of precipitation that results in floods and droughts. In Greece, temperatures have reached 114.8F (46C) degrees this week as part of a heatwave in southern parts of Europe. Parts of China are also going through a heat wave, while Northern England and parts of Texas are having the most rain of the year. The U.N. Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) says that human activities led by the use of fossil fuels and increase in greenhouse gas were “very likely” the cause of global warming in the past half-century.

Friendly Dispensers

zevro Friendly Dispensers

This company provides a very innovative and useful line of kitchenware that can not just make your life easier, but can also be sustainable and sanitary. Zevro makes professional dispensers that preserver freshness for up to 45 days and is also great for dispensing dry foods such as cereal, snacks, candy, nuts, etc. We have several of these dispensers at my office and they work great. By dispensing what you want, it prevents the need for everyone to reach into a bag to grab what they want and is a lot more sanitary for both your home and/or office. It is also sustainable because it allows you to buy in bulk and fill up the dispenser instead of buying individual packets of food, which require more packaging and produce more waste.

San Francisco’s New P.U.C. Building

puc San Franciscos New P.U.C. Building

The San Francisco Public Utilities Commission will be building a new 12-story headquarter that is suppose to be the most energy-efficient office building developed in the United States. The $178 million 254,000 sq ft. design by KMD Architect will have dozens of wind turbines on the roof, solar panels embedded on the outer walls, a natural cooling thermal chimney, and other features that will supply 40% of its own energy. On a sunny or windy day, the goal is for the building to be completely provided by its own produced energy. The P.U.C. headquarters will also have faucet sensors, waterless urinals, and on-demand water heaters which should cut use to 5 gallons per occupant per day as opposed to 25 gallons a day for an average office building. There will also be a grey-water wastewater recycling system that enables the reuse of water from faucets and sinks from the toilets and cooling system. The new headquarters will also utilize sun-filtering shades, new window-glazing materials to bring sunlight inside the structure. The building is designed to exceed LEEDs-Platinum level and exceed California’s Title 24 requirements for energy efficiency in new office buildings by 60% . The building will be located at 525 Golden Gate Ave in downtown San Francisco and is planned to open in 2008.
