Bad Plasmas, bad!
Plasma televisions were the latest and greatest a couple years ago and more and more people have been buying them because they continue to drop in price. They are a lot smaller than old school tube TVs, lighter, and look so much cooler. Having a huge Plasma flat screen a year or two ago was pretty cool, but nowadays, a lot of people own one. Since prices continue to drop, the size of the screens also get bigger and one thing that is not really talked about much is how much electricity they waste. CRT TVs probably use about 100 watts of electricity while a 42 inch Plasma may use upwards of 200 watts. A good thing recently however, is that Plasma Television sales have been dropping significantly due to the increase of LCD Televisions. LCD Televisions were pricey a year ago, but the prices continue to drop and are pretty close to the price of Plasma Televisions. There are plenty of pros and cons between LCD vs. Plasma Televisions, but a main advantage of LCD Televisions are that they use a lot less electricity than Plasmas. Two more advantages are that they do not have burnins, and they do not have glare. My choice between the two would most likely be an LCD.
