As an IT professional involved in promoting Green Technology, I try to keep myself informed about technology in general and not just clean/green tech. The tools and technology that Web 2.0 has created can be very useful in helping promote sustainability. The Silicon Valley New Tech Meetup Group is a monthly meeting for tech enthusiasts to see demos of new web 2.0 technologies. Web 2.0 is usually defined with examples of social networking, image sharing, uploading videos and blogging. So there is no surprise that this month’s demos consisted of companies that did all of the above. Veodia.com allows for a live broadcast that can be embedded into your blog. Ning.com allows anyone to create their own social network. Attendio.com is a website that allows you to find out local events. Pikeo.com is another image sharing website but aimed for travelers and incorporates an interactive map of where your pictures were taken.
