Goal
We live in a digital age where we are very computer focused with technology and always wanting to be connected. When it comes to being environmentally conscious however, it is another story. The goal of this website is to promote and educate our generation about how they can help the environment. The blog covers news and topics in the green industry, and also covers local green events that bring people together.
Generation Exe is dedicated to promoting green technology and sustainability. By using the web and social media, we can bring a heightened awareness to people across a broad range of industries. The aspiration is to build a more environmentally conscious generation focused on today as well as tomorrow. It is up to our generation to teach the next generation a model of how we should help maintain the Earth for generations to come.
Web 2.0 is currently reinventing the Internet. We need to make an effort to reinvent the environment in the same way using technology in any way we can such as using social networking and the web to promote and encourage people to be more environmentally conscious.
What is Generation Exe?
Generation X is a term often used in pop culture as well as in demography, social science, and marketing to describe people usually born around 1961 to 1981. It is a term often used by the media to discuss trends and their influence in society.
Generation Y is usually described as the generation that follows after X and issues and trends are usually shared among the two generations. This group of the population is the most connected with technology starting with the MTV, cell phones, and the Internet to all the different aspects that are involved with the Internet such as instant messaging, blogging, social networking, and downloading music and videos.
Generation Exe is a term I have coined that combines the two generations because they share similar interests and issues. Because these two generations are our future and they will be the parents of the children for the future, it is important for Generation Exe to be well aware of all the issues and be consciously aware of how contributions can be made so that they can pass this on to the future generations to come. It is up to us to make a difference.
What is being Green?
To be Green is to be environmentally friendly. By reducing your carbon footprint, recycling, being energy efficient, driving Hybrids, and being sustainable, you are making a difference for the environment. You do not have to be an Environmentalist to be Green. The smallest things such as recycling a soda can or swapping out a incandescent light bulb with a fluorescent light bulb can make a difference.
Goal
My goal is for our generation to understand all the concepts and have an awareness of what we can do to help the environment. This should be a natural concept that we do not have to make a conscious effort to do. By using technology and Web 2.0, we can take advantage of the tools of the internet such as social networking, blogging, and other forms of web media to promote the ideas to everyone.
